چکیده

One of the most successful techniques to arise from modern control theory works in the following way. Using current measurements of states of the system, control values are determined that make the output of the system follow a desired trajectory over a specifi ed interval of time into the future. Assuming suffi cient computational power and a suffi ciently accurate model of the system, numerical algorithms are used to compute these control values. The computations are usually generated by an optimization method and can take into account constraints that must be satisfi ed, for example, on the states and controls. Of the computed control values, only the fi rst value is implemented. The procedure is repeated at the next time instant and so forth. This method is known as either receding horizon control or model predictive control. A receding horizon controller does not necessarily resemble a PID control law or even an LQG or H` control law. In effect, the control law is an extremely nonlinear feedback control law, and there may be no way to represent it by an explicit formula. Nevertheless, in 1988, Elmer Gilbert and Sathiya Keerthi showed that, under fairly mild assumptions, receding horizon control can stabilize a system; it is, after all, a closedloop control strategy. Controllability Analysis of A Two Degree of Freedom Nonlinear Attitude Control System

We study a physically simple two degree of freedom attitude control system that has a single control input. The physical assumptions are described. Equations of motion are derived and expressed in a nonlinear control form. We demonstrate that the system is inherently nonlinear. Conditions for small time local controllability of the state and of the configuration are presented.

Inertia-Free Spacecraft Attitude Control Using Reaction Wheels

This paper extends the continuous inertia-free control law for spacecraft attitude tracking derived in prior work to the case of three axisymmetric reaction wheels. The wheels are assumed to be mounted in a known and linearly independent, but not necessarily orthogonal, configuration with an arbitrary and unknown orientation relative to the unknown spacecraft principal axes. Simulation results ...

Asymptotic Stability of Multibody Attitude Systems

A rigid base body, supported by a fixed pivot point, is free to rotate in three dimensions. Multiple elastic subsystems are rigidly mounted on the rigid body; the elastic degrees of freedom are constrained relative to the rigid base body. A mathematical model is developed for this multibody attitude system that exposes the dynamic coupling between the rotational degrees of freedom of the base b...

Dynamics and Control of a Rigid Spacecraft with a Control Moment Gyroscope

The attitude dynamics of a spacecraft with a variable speed control moment gyroscope (CMG), in the presence of conservative external inputs, are derived using variational principles. A complete dynamics model, that relaxes some of the assumptions made in prior literature on control moment gyroscopes, is obtained. These dynamics equations show the complex nonlinear coupling between the internal ...

Optimal Control and Geodesics on Matrix Lie Groups

In this paper we analyze left invariant geodesic problems on matrix Lie groups from both the continuous and discrete viewpoint; the discrete approach approximates the continuous description. We show how the dynamic systems characterizing the extremals also arise from a generalization of the geodesic problem posed as an optimal control problem. We investigate conserved quantities and invariant m...
